The Wine DTC Landscape Is Bigger Than One Matrix
Oct 28, 2026
A good set of questions, and one missing answer
Wineries evaluating DTC technology deserve a complete picture, and that picture includes Bottle360. We read the recent Wine DTC SaaS Technology Report with genuine interest and respect. Nearly 30 years in this industry earns a perspective, and many of the points it raises are ones we agree with completely.
The report asks many of the right questions. What is truly native? Where does customer data live? Who picks up the phone when something breaks? What is the true cost? We think every winery should ask them of every vendor, including us.
What the report’s vendor matrix does not include is Bottle360. It makes room for general commerce platforms like Shopify, but not for a wine-specific, all-in-one DTC platform serving wineries today. So we would like to add our answers to the conversation.
Why a complete list matters
A vendor matrix is only as useful as the vendors it shows. Many wineries use comparisons like this one to build a shortlist and a platform left off the page often never gets a demo.
We understand that any vendor writing about its own market sees it from its own seat. That is natural, and we are writing from ours too. The fair way to settle it is simple: put every serious option side by side and let wineries be the judge.
Everything native, nothing nickel-and-dimed
Bottle360 is a true all-in-one platform: eCommerce, tasting room POS, wine club, subscription, allocations, loyalty, CRM and more, on one customer record. Every capability you would expect from the established all-in-one providers is built in, not bolted on.
The difference is how well those all-in-one features are built, how well we serve it and how we price it. Features are included in the platform, not sold back to you as modules, add-ons, third party paid for additions, or premium tiers. When new capabilities have shipped, every winery on Bottle360 gets it and we continue adding deeper functionality on the basics than others have, as well as new features that wineries imagine and then ask us for and for which we deliver.
That answers two of the report’s own questions at once. What is native? All of it. Where does my customer data live? In one place.
Who answers when you need help? A person, right away.
Bottle360 offers support by phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There is no phone tree and no hold queue: you call, and a real person who knows you, and the platform answers. But, let's take this even a step further. There is simply no support team that has earned the kudos that the service staff at Bottle360 has received. We make sure our winery customers know we care about them each and every time they call.
The report rightly asks whether support comes from one company or several vendors. For us it is one company, it is us, on the call in seconds. When your internet hiccups or your iPad is dropped on the floor on a Saturday afternoon with a tasting room full of guests, that is the phone call answered that matters and our team can quickly get you up and running your POS on a phone in a hurry that can also process the card payment. Just one example of why support on demand is so critical in saving that sale, pleasing that guest, and reducing wasted labor.
True cost: we welcome the comparison
The report encourages wineries to look past the monthly fee to the full cost: transaction fees, add-on applications, integrations, and payment processing. We agree, and we think that is another place Bottle360 really stands out. In fact, our direct comparisons, including those made from actual invoices of the others, consistently shows us treating wineries more respectfully when it comes to costs and always providing what is often a substantial savings. And how do we do this? Well, we are privately owned and our revenue is not being removed from the platform and sent to investors. This is how our revenue goes right back into feature building.
That is just one reason. We also believe that our clients deserve respect and part of that is respecting their dollars. Our pricing is transparent and our rates are the most competitive in wine DTC. With features included rather than sold separately, the total cost of running Bottle360 is below that of comparable platforms. We prefer the stable and steady road of true winery advocacy and long term gain with pricing that is not painful.
Our suggestion: ask every vendor on your list for a complete savings estimate, based on your actual invoices for the software and the payment processing, sales volume, number of transactions and the tools you need. Then put them side by side. We are confident in how ours will look.
An open invitation: DTC features you’ve got to see
The report closes by inviting corrections, and we gladly accept. We would welcome Bottle360 being added to the matrix, and we are happy to provide whatever information is needed to represent us accurately. We believe our tech is great for wineries of any size to grow and nurture their customer relationships, with unique features that are not on any matrix like our AI Dynamic Reports Module where you can literally with a prompt add to or create any custom report in minutes, Club Member at Risk report that watches for specific behaviors and can alert staff to possible attrition well before it occurs, Free Monthly or Quarterly Tasting Countdown, or our Buy-Now-Pay-Later TBA this December 1st.
To wineries reviewing their technology: put us on your shortlist and hold us to the same questions the report raises. Whether you are the Tasting Room Association or Manager who just wants things to be easier and pleasing guests faster, the Club Manager who wearily battles inefficiencies, or the owner who wants better data and lower costs, you’ll see things you wish you had in your current offering. Call our support line at midnight and see who answers. Ask for a savings estimate and compare it line by line. Book a demo and see how our technology shines and is outpacing the industry for ease of use and constant improved features simply because a winery has imagined something they think will make their lives easier, and we’ve added it. Then follow up with a winery that has moved to our platform from another, and ask them how we’ve improved their DTC. We’ve reproduced the matrix below to allow for a complete side by side.
The wine DTC landscape is bigger than any one matrix. We are proud to be part of it. We have always positioned ourselves as the merchant advocate and our passion for helping wineries is second to none.

Is Your Tech Stack Working as Hard as Your Team?
Every winery runs differently, and your platform should fit the way you actually sell, from the tasting room to the club shipment. Bottle360 brings eCommerce, POS, wine club, and compliance into one core platform that embeds on the site you already have, backed by real people 24/7/365.
Whether you're reevaluating your current DTC platform or just curious what's possible, we'd love to talk.

For many wineries, selecting a direct-to-consumer platform means balancing functionality, integrations, customer support, and cost. According to Katherine Adams, CEO of Bottle360, those are exactly the challenges that inspired the company to enter the wine industry in 2021.
Although Bottle360 is relatively new to the wine sector, the team behind the platform brings more than 25 years of experience in retail, hospitality, ecommerce, and payments. Additionally, they have added top notch professionals from various sectors of the wine industry to help lead their development and support. Adams says that experience revealed an opportunity to deliver something wineries were missing: an all-in-one platform backed by responsive customer support and fair pricing.
"We really quickly saw there seemed to be a lack of good technology options for wineries," Adams explained. "Besides the lack of choices, there also seemed to be a lack of customer support and some really high pricing. We felt we could deliver a better technical product with better support and more fair pricing."
Today, Bottle360 provides an integrated platform that brings together point of sale, ecommerce, wine club management, customer relationship management, inventory, marketing, reporting, and payment processing into a single system designed specifically for winery direct-to-consumer operations.
Recognizing that some specialized applications already excel in their respective categories, Bottle360 also emphasizes strategic integrations with leading industry solutions, including RedChirp, Enolytics, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, ShipCompliant, FedEx, UPS, and additional platforms currently in development. Rather than simply connecting to these services, Adams says Bottle360 extends many integrations with additional functionality, such as displaying real-time FedEx and UPS shipping rates directly within both ecommerce checkout and the winery's point-of-sale system.
Innovation continues to be a major focus for the company. Among its newest enhancements are a Club Members at Risk Report, designed to help wineries identify wine club members who may be at risk of leaving, an expanded Dynamic Reporting Module that will soon allow users to build custom reports using simple prompts, and a newly redesigned point-of-sale interface that streamlines navigation and improves usability. The company is also preparing to release a free monthly tasting countdown feature requested by winery customers.
While technology remains central to the platform, Adams believes customer service is what truly differentiates Bottle360. The company manages much of the implementation process for new customers, minimizing disruption while helping wineries transition from existing systems.
"We know the thought of changing systems is hard for people," Adams said. "We don't want them to have an interruption in their business or risk hospitality hiccups, so we do all the work for them."
That commitment continues long after implementation through 24/7 U.S.-based support by phone, text, and email. When customers call, support representatives already have key account information available, allowing them to begin solving problems immediately without lengthy hold times or phone trees.
For wineries evaluating direct-to-consumer technology, Adams encourages scheduling a personalized demonstration to see how Bottle360 can simplify operations while delivering the responsive service the company has built its reputation on.

“Headless ecommerce” sounds complicated. The idea behind it is actually pretty simple: Your website and your ecommerce platform don’t have to be the same thing.
Traditionally, changing ecommerce platforms could mean rebuilding or migrating your winery website along with it. That can turn what should be a technology decision into a much larger, slower and more expensive website project. Bottle360’s new headless commerce interface separates the two. Your winery can keep its existing website on WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, Weebly, GoDaddy, BigCommerce or another platform that allows embedded code, while Bottle360 powers the store, cart, checkout, club management, allocations and product catalog behind it. And the store doesn’t have to look bolted on. Bottle360’s Styling Studio carries your fonts, colors, spacing, buttons and layout rules into the storefront so the shopping experience remains consistent with your brand. Maybe the best part, wineries can do this design themselves or their designer now has tools that greatly reduce their work load.
The practical takeaway? Choose the website platform that works for your brand. Choose the ecommerce platform that works for your business. You no longer have to assume changing one means changing both.
Learn more about Bottle360’s new headless commerce

Bottle360 can now carry design and branding straight through their platform to WordPress, Wix, Shopify, Weebly, Squarespace, GoDaddy, BigCommerce, and beyond with no website migration required
SEATTLE, WA — September 8th, 2026 — Bottle360 today announced the release of its headless commerce interface, allowing wineries to connect a full-featured Bottle360 storefront to nearly any website builder on the market. What began as a WordPress plugin has evolved into a platform-agnostic commerce layer, freeing wineries from the long-standing tradeoff between the ecommerce engine they need and the website platform they actually want. Bottle360 is the only platform worldwide to offer this advantage to the wine industry.
At the center of the release is the Styling Studio, Bottle360’s visual design system, now accessible directly from within the Bottle360 admin panel. Fonts, colors, spacing, button treatments, and layout rules configured in Styling Studio pass through automatically to the storefront wherever it is embedded, Wix, Weebly, Squarespace, GoDaddy, BigCommerce, WordPress, Shopify, and more. The store inherits the winery’s brand without a developer hand-writing and maintaining a separate stylesheet for every platform. This is a noteworthy milestone as Bottle360 positions themselves as the leading technology partner for wineries.
The end of the platform lock-in problem
For many years, wineries evaluating DTC commerce platforms have faced the same question: is the store worth rebuilding the entire website around? Migrations for other ecommerce platforms have historically been expensive, slow, risky, and they frequently stall a winery’s ecommerce roadmap for months.
Bottle360’s headless architecture removes the question entirely. A winery on Squarespace stays on Squarespace. A winery whose marketing team is fluent in Wix keeps building in Wix. The storefront including the cart, checkout, club management, allocations, and product catalog, is all delivered into the existing site, and the existing site keeps doing what it already does well.
Built for the people building winery websites
The release is aimed as much at agencies and independent designers as at wineries themselves. Connecting a commerce backend to a custom-designed site has traditionally meant thousands of lines of integration and styling code, written once per platform and maintained indefinitely.
With Styling Studio driving presentation from the Bottle360 admin, designers configure the storefront visually and embed it. Projects close faster. Designers move to the next client sooner, take on more redesign work, and can now say yes to clients on platforms they previously had to turn away.
For wineries, that translates into a wider field of qualified design partners, more competitive pricing, and dramatically shorter timelines from kickoff to launch.
“Going headless was the right architectural decision because we have met so many wineries who were on Wix, Weebly or Squarespace and they wanted the same deluxe webstore experience that others have been achieving with our WordPress plugin. This new release solves a huge issue for wineries who have been stuck for decades with being forced to redesign their website and migrate ecommerce platforms at the same time.” — Tim Murry, Vice President, Bottle360
Regarding our existing WordPress Plugin which is the immediate precursor to this new headless commerce initiative, multiple design agencies are already seeing the benefits:
“The new Bottle360 WordPress Plugin represents a major leap forward in how wineries bring their online storefronts to life. With its streamlined setup and their new Bridge Styling Studio, teams can fully customize the
look and feel of their Bottle360 integration—fonts, colors, buttons, layouts, and on‑page components—without writing a single line of code. It gives wineries complete creative control and a far more intuitive way to manage their digital customer experience.” — Louis Gottfried, Technology Director, WineGlass Marketing a Colangelo & Partners Company
Availability
The headless commerce interface and in-admin Styling Studio are available now to all Bottle360 customers and wineries migrating to Bottle360. Wineries and design partners can request a walkthrough by calling 1-800-450-9864 or scheduling a time at bottlethreesixty.com.
About Bottle360
Bottle360 was built on more than 25 years of experience helping merchants succeed across retail, hospitality, and ecommerce. When the team entered the wine industry in 2017, they saw wineries relying on too few DTC platform options, minimal support, and very high pricing, so they acquired a platform originally built by former WineDirect, wine shipping, and wine compliance professionals, and set out to make it better.
Since then, and with the help of talented wine industry engineers and team members, that foundation has been rebuilt into the most robust, easy-to-use direct-to-consumer platform available for wineries today. Bottle360 is now an all-in-one solution combining POS, ecommerce, wine club management, CRM, inventory, wholesale, reporting, and the 2025 WINnovation Award–winning WineWallet™ loyalty program — all backed by a 24/7 U.S.-based support team.
Bottle360’s mission is simple: champion wineries of every size with a platform that makes selling direct-to-consumer easier, more profitable, and more personal.
