It used to be that boxed wine was considered to be in poor taste. But according to an article in the New York Times, many brands have better than expected quality and affordability. That includes some premium boxed wines.

Boxed wine also appeals to consumers wanting to reduce their environmental footprint because it offers sustainability for both consumers and wineries. Additionally, the box itself has more options for branding since it has a larger surface area.

And for wineries, it can be less expensive since there isn’t the overhead in glass, corks, etc.

If that isn’t enough, boxed wine lasts longer than bottled wine since oxidation is almost eliminated from boxed wine. However, the wine does need to be consumed within 8 to 12 months of purchase.

Consumers will be happier since they get more wine for the money. Wineries save money on packaging & overhead.
