Prepping for the Holidays

Despite the fact that in many parts of the country it still seems like summer, it is time to start planning for the fall and winter seasons. Especially the weeks leading up to Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hannukah, Christmas, and New Year.

I am sure many of you are already planning for these special wine drinking occasions. On the off chance that there are some wineries that have not started, now is the time. These holidays are for gatherings of family and friends together to enjoy wine, food, and friendship.

What are you doing to encourage your customers to stock up on wine and gift items for the holidays? If you haven’t started putting together your holiday offerings for customers, now is the time.

Create some special wine combinations in three, four, six, and twelve packs that will interest your customers.

Remind your customers that wine is a gift that is always appreciated and give them the reasons they need to buy your wine, not only for their friends and family but for themselves as well. After all, they deserve a treat for themselves while they are buying for everyone else.

It is hard to over-promote during the holidays. Think about sending a couple more emails in the months leading up to the holidays than you would normally do. When your customers are busy it is easier for them to miss a message from you.

Create interesting headlines for your emails or text messages so that your customers are more likely to read them.

Keep your missives, short and cheerful. Get to the point of the information early as many people are short on time during the holiday season.

Most of all, in all your messages to your customers, make sure they know that you are pleased and grateful to have them as your customers and appreciate their business.

A tip of the glass from me to you!

 Other Seminars & Training

Staff and management training should be as integral a part of the operation of a successful winery as using the very best grapes and producing top notch wines. Yet, despite its iymportance, it is the component of business operations that is most easily and most often ignored. In fact, it is frequently not recognized as a component of successful business operations at all.

E (as she is known) presents seminars and workshops on a variety of marketing and sales subjects to wineries and winery associations throughout North America. She is a featured speaker at Wineries Unlimited and presents regularly at state and province conferences working across the US and Canada.

In Short was started as a direct marketing company in 1994 and added workshops and seminars to the mix in 1997.  Elizabeth's dynamic and humorous speaking style has made her a popular and busy speaker both in and out of the wine industry.

"In Short Direct Marketing is an essential business tool." - Maureen Hendrikson, Patit Creek Cellars
