An important inclusion in Emails to Winery Customers

Many times, people decide to visit your winery and buy wine because they have received a referral from a friend or a family member, or even one of your winery employees about your wines and how good they are. When people come into the tasting room or phone the winery to buy wines, if they are not customers of the winery already, ask them how they found out about the winery and your wines. It may be that you owe a thank you to a regular customer or a winery near you who suggested your winery to the guests or to a friend or relative of theirs. In which case you can send them a note.

Be sure to include a short paragraph in your winery emails encouraging the recipients to send people they know to your winery. Remind them also to tell the people they send to your winery that when these people visit to tell their server that the winery was recommended to them and by whom.

The server should be sure to ask the guests for the name of the person who recommended your winery to them if the guests do not offer that information. You need this information in order to thank the person or people who recommended the new guests to the winery by sending them a thank you note and/or offering something special for them the next time they come to the winery.

One thing we forget sometimes is that when your guests have found a winery with wines that they enjoy, where they are treated well by the servers in the tasting room and made to feel special, they will recommend the winery and the people they interacted to their friends. This means that they will be back and bring others with them.

 Other Seminars & Training

Staff and management training should be as integral a part of the operation of a successful winery as using the very best grapes and producing top notch wines. Yet, despite its iymportance, it is the component of business operations that is most easily and most often ignored. In fact, it is frequently not recognized as a component of successful business operations at all.

E (as she is known) presents seminars and workshops on a variety of marketing and sales subjects to wineries and winery associations throughout North America. She is a featured speaker at Wineries Unlimited and presents regularly at state and province conferences working across the US and Canada.

In Short was started as a direct marketing company in 1994 and added workshops and seminars to the mix in 1997.  Elizabeth's dynamic and humorous speaking style has made her a popular and busy speaker both in and out of the wine industry.
