The TLMI Printing Excellence Awards celebrate outstanding printing and converting achievements in the North American Label and Packaging Industry. This program creates a visible connection between labels produced daily on press and label award-winning submissions.
At the 2024 Awards in October, three labels printed at our Napa, California pant were recognized in the “Wine & Spirits – All, including neck label” category:
💫 Don Gato Tequila Blanco took first place in ‘Spirits’
💫 Castello di Amorosa – Serata took first place in ‘Wine’
💫 19 Crimes Cali Rose Gold took second place in ‘Wine’
The awards recently arrived at our Napa plant. 🏆 Kudos to those involved in the creation and printing of these labels! 🎉
In our Navigating Sustainable Labels Guide, there are four questions to answer when looking to improve the sustainability of your label. First up: How is your product packaged?
The material of your container plays a crucial role in achieving your goals! A few things to consider:
💦 Glass bottles may work best for paper labels with water-based adhesives
♻️ Plastic containers may require plastic containers to ensure compatibility with recycling
🍶 Common container materials include HDPE, PP and glass
Label Tip: The label may be small, but it has a significant impact on the sustainability of your packaging! We can provide solutions to ensure label and container compatibility, no matter the material.
Choosing the right sustainable label requires considering key factors to ensure your packaging meets the growing expectations, especially with the recently published #PPWR guidelines in the EU. ♻️
As a helpful tool when selecting eco-friendly label solutions, we created a Navigating Sustainable Labels Guide, which highlights four simple questions to ask when looking to improve the sustainability of your label. It also provides more in-depth considerations and tips for each question, which we will be diving into further in upcoming posts!
Not sure where to start? We are here to support you on this journey to sustainability! 🌿

MCC Napa loves to help contribute to making a difference in our community with our Annual Fall Food Drive! Our Plant has collected donations to help those in need this season.
In the last few weeks, devastating events such as Hurricanes Helene and Milton have put a huge emphasis on the safety and care of our people, and just how important they are to us, and others. We are choosing to dedicate this edition of LabelTalk Link to the grit and strength of every MCC employee, as well as their families, and extended communities. Please join us in a toast to one of our three key pillars – PEOPLE. 🥂
Caring for our communities
Teammates from MCC's Rosemont, Illinois office recently spent an afternoon packing nutritious meals for children around the world battling hunger. Partnering with the non-profit organization Feed My Starving Children, the team helped pack over 14,000 meals! This contribution will guarantee a daily meal to 39 children for a year.
Taking the opportunity to step away from their day-to-day work and into their community, the team organized themselves into an efficient assembly line. With a teammate responsible for each step of the process and some groovy music to set the rhythm, they got to packing!
“The event was energizing, inspiring, and quite frankly – so much fun,” says Leo Hernandez, Corporate HR Manager, “We bonded as a team for a great cause.”
Thanks to all our Rosemont participants for representing how MCC labels with care in our communities.
Staying safe
The safety of our people and plants is paramount, and within the past few weeks, two of our plants have been recognized for their continued commitment to safety.
Congratulations go to:
MCC Maldegem (Belgium)
Property insurer FM Global honored the Maldegem team with a trophy – crowning them with the highest “RiskMark” score globally for MCC (90%+ percentile).
“The renewed levels of engagement throughout MCC, both from their corporate leadership team and their local teams, have helped to establish good fundamentals and are starting to turn the tide of property risk improvement activities across the organization,” said the spokesperson for FM Global.
“We’re happy to partner with MCC in developing multiple MCC sites into ‘Highly Protected Risks’ and helping MCC reinforce their mission to provide products and a work environment that are both ‘Labeled with Care.’”
MCC Batavia
Cintas awards annual health and safety recognitions to acknowledge organizations that demonstrate exceptional commitment to high standards of workplace safety. These recognitions are based on evaluations of safety practices, policies, and overall dedication to reducing workplace injuries and accidents.
“Cintas has very high standards and this recognition is especially noteworthy coming from them,” comments Scott Swanson, Senior Director, EHS.
“This is a fantastic acknowledgment of Batavia's excellent safety program.”
Whether your brand goals are rooted in sustainability, market penetration or innovation, a key way to achieve optimal results is by engaging with your packaging partners early in the process. At MCC, our label expertise is often a competitive advantage for our customers. We have deep knowledge in critical areas of packaging from our diverse network of passionate teammates – from concept to commercialization and beyond! In this edition, we will peel back the layers on what ESG means to MCC, as well as feature one of our behind-the-scenes powerhouse teams focused on rapid prototyping.
ESG Steering Team
As part of our Labeled with Care strategy, a focused effort has been put toward Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives. These policies outline our dedication to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and sound governance practices. This serves as a framework for integrating ESG considerations into our decision-making processes and guiding our interactions with stakeholders.
As part of our continued commitment to these topics, we’ve recently appointed an ESG Steering Team comprised of executive leaders from our Innovation, HR, Legal, and Finance teams. The team is headed up by our VP of Global Sustainability, Stijn Billiet. The ESG steering team has oversight for MCC’s structured roadmap on ESG activities and their implementation. With an increasing focus on ESG reporting this team will ensure MCC’s commitments and compliance.
Sustainability Update
Labels play an undeniable role in the consumer buying process. At MCC, we help cultivate the emotional bond between brands and consumers with each label we produce. More and more, these connections are deeply intertwined with sustainability.
To us, sustainability isn’t a standalone initiative, it is woven into every aspect of our company. Through our three key pillars of People, Operations, and Products, we strive to drive positive change and help our customers achieve their sustainability goals.
Read our newly released Sustainability Update to learn more about the ambitious goals we’ve set, and how we collaborate with global partners to continually move forward and in our sustainability journey.
Get to know MCC's Rapid Prototyping Center
What is the Rapid Prototyping Center?
MCC’s Rapid Prototyping Center (RPC) is part of our Graphic Reproduction Excellence (GRE) network. The team are dedicated to supporting MCC’s commercial efforts by offering our customers a glimpse into the future of their packaging.
Where in the production process does prototyping occur?
We stress the importance of early and thoughtful engagement with our customers to deliver high-quality label solutions, creatively tailored to their unique prototyping needs.
Prototypes can be useful for a variety of projects. We've found prototypes are especially helpful for projects that include rebranding with different design concepts, adapting graphics to varied sizes or constructions, creating sales samples, testing with consumers, and supporting innovation and sustainability efforts.
About the RPC team
Our RPC team is small but mighty! We currently operate out of two locations – with a third opening soon. Our teammates have backgrounds in graphic design, industrial design, fine art, label engineering and project management. Our RPC team culture thrives on exceptional service, creative problem-solving, collaboration, and passion for every project, one prototype at a time.
