One thing we hear from customers is that they want to get more life and longevity out of their pleated membrane and polishing filters. To that end, let us introduce Graver MBC: a disposable cartridge filter. Wait! Hear us out.
Yes, MBC is disposable. That's the whole point. It's a (much) less expensive sacrificial filter that soaks up sediment and coarse particulate before it reaches your pleated and sterile filters. If you've ever thought about picking up a bag filter to put upstream of your cartridges, this might be the alternative you've been looking for in a format you already use.
MBC doesn't replace your pleated or membrane filters. Those are still what put a brilliant, shelf-stable product in the bottle, and they earn their keep. Spoiled wine or beer means returns, bad reviews, or getting pulled from shelves, and a cloudy spirit might not make it to the shopping cart. But good filters are expensive, and they foul fast without something coarse in front of them. That's MBC's whole job: it takes the beating so your good filters don't.
These filters are made from layers of melt-blown polypropylene, going from a coarse outer layer to a fine inner layer to trap large solids. All materials are FDA, NSF, USP Class VI listed for direct food contact.
Sizing, Pricing, and How to Run MBC
Graver normally sells MBC by the 12-pack, but we're breaking them out individually so you can dip your toes in.
We're currently stocking MBC in 30-inch, in 1, 5, 10, and 30 micron, at about $30 each. Need 10 or 20-inch? Those come in by the case. We order from Graver weekly, and can add yours to the next PO, so you should plan on a couple weeks.
There's no cleaning or backflushing with MBC. You run it until the pressure climbs, then take it out and drop in a fresh one. The multi-layered construction ensures long onstream life before that happens. At $30 each, MBC is a great way to cut two costs at once: you reduce filter costs downstream, and labor costs from cleaning and babysitting pleated polishing and sterile filters.
