Sunridge Nurseries continues to invest in the science behind producing healthy, high-quality vines. In 2025, Sunridge acquired the Pathology Division of Wonderful Laboratories, bringing with it a proven track record in plant diagnostics and experienced laboratory leadership. Under the direction of Tefera Mekuria, now Sunridge’s Lab Director, the laboratory built a strong reputation for accurate, consistent testing, including achieving and maintaining ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation year after year, as well as regularly achieving some of the highest accuracy results in proficiency and ring-testing programs associated with CDFA and Foundation Plant Services at UC Davis.

The new Sunridge Nurseries Laboratory (SRNL), being built directly on the Sunridge nursery grounds, will allow us to build on that foundation with a modern, purpose-built facility focused on quality and accuracy in every result. Having the laboratory on site will connect our diagnostic team even more closely with nursery operations, allowing us to identify potential plant-health concerns earlier and use that information to make better decisions about the material we propagate and harvest.

More importantly, the expanded laboratory will allow Sunridge to continue testing an industry-leading 125,000+ vines annually, helping ensure that we are harvesting only the cleanest possible material for our customers.

The result is a stronger scientific foundation behind every Sunridge vine and greater confidence for our customers that the material they receive is backed by one of the most comprehensive testing programs in the industry.
