FAQ - What is the Timeline to Get a Commercial Generator Up and Running

We hope you and your organization are thriving! We are focused on how we can contribute to your success, which boils down to allowing you to feel confident in your backup power.

Beyond maintaining and repairing equipment, we want to make sure you have what you need in place well before any outage arises.

Here's what we're seeing as we help our customers step up their level of preparation:

  • Lead times for generators and ancillary equipment remains extended (can be a whole year or more after ordering)
  • Engineering firms have backlogs of work
  • Processing time for both operation and AQMD permits is extended
  • Installation labor / resources may also be backlogged
  • Replacement parts are taking 30 to 60 days for delivery (in some cases, they're on indefinite backorder, which could be a sign that it's time to replace your generator)

Overall, we are advising customers that it may take two years from when you make your decision to when a new, stationary generator will be in place and operational. In the meantime, your organization may be best served by adding generator capacity through long-term rental
